Pacific Theater

A question about the WWII Pacific Theater?
Did Americans and some other Allied soldiers from Britain, and Australia do any torturing to Japanese soldier they captured during the war? Did we perform any summary executions on enemy prisoners?
There were cases of Marines shooting Japanese prisoners put under their care on Iwo Jima and Okinawa because they had enough to deal with.
I wouldn’t be suprised of cases of British and Australians torturing Japanese POWs as they hated the Japanese, understandibly

At War in the Pacific $36.94 More than 16 million Americans served in the military during World War II?and nearly 3 million of them spent time in the Pacific theater. Before the attack on Pearl Harbor, the United States looked to graduates of the naval academy to fill its need for qualified officers. To supplement the number of academy graduates, new programs were created, including the Naval Reserve Officer Training Program, the Civilian Pilot Training Program, the Naval Aviation Cadet Program and what were later called ?V? programs. Despite these efforts, the military buildup was slow. After Pearl Harbor, all branches of the military became dependent upon officers rushed through training programs, some of which hardly lasted longer than the enlisted men’s boot camp?the so-called ?ninety day wonders? are just such an example. |

The Six Marine Divisions in the Pacific $52.72 In the island battles of World War II, the United States Marine Corps came into its own. From a force previously numbering 55,000, the the Marines swelled to 480,000. With Pacific theater command essentially divided between General Douglas MacArthur and Admiral Chester W. Nimitz, these forces found themselves under the command of the Army or Navy depending on their particular location. Concentrating on the infantry units, this volume provides a brief history of each of the six Marine divisions which took part in the Pacific conflict. Beginning with a chronology of the war in the Pacific, it succinctly describes each campaign through the eyes of a specified division, focusing on the division’s exact movements and actions. Some battles and operations are covered from different perspectives because of the presence of multiple divisions. An initial section contains brief biographical sketches of key players in the Pacific arena. Extensive maps and photographs are also included. |

To the Pacific With the Last Fighting Cavalry $38.89 This narrative tracks the experiences of three veterans while providing a comprehensive account of Troop G activities during the war years. The text follows the regiment from its time as a mounted cavalry based in Fort Clark to New Caldonia, where the men gave up their horses to become infrantymen in General Douglas MacArthur’’s conquest of New Guinea and the Philippines. Never as famous as the federalized infantrymen of the Texas 36th, the men of the 112th have often been overlooked in discussions of World War II, and this text seeks to restore them to their rightful place in the history of the Pacific theater operations. |
